Trigger Point Injections Procedures
Trigger Point Injections are used to address muscular problem and large painful knots in the muscle Trigger Point Injections may be used. When a muscle has adhesions and knots up the muscle becomes shorter which can cause that muscle to always feel tight. Dr. Adam Weitzman uses a small guaged needle similar to acupuncture to penetrate just under the skin and break up the knot. He will release a small amount of numbing medicine like lidocaine so that the patient does not feel any pain. This procedure is typically followed up with myofascial release, massage and/or stretching to release the knot permanently. Depeding on the size of the knot and how long it has been there, a patient may require a series of trigger point injections over several week to fully release the knot.
